FITTING
INSTRUCTIONS
Introduction: This
roof console is mounted without drilling any holes in the
vehicle. The front mounting bracket on the console utilises
the original mounting screws for the sun visors. The back
of the console is held in place by utilising the interior
light screw holes. The interior light is re-mounted into
a pre-cut hole in the base of the console.
Step 1. Remove the interior
light and one foot on each sun visor (i.e. the two sun visor
mounting points closest to the rear view mirror). If the
vehicle has a spectacle holder / map light assembly, it
must also be removed.
Step 2. Hold the console
in position to check the fit. Make sure you have received
the correct console, in good order, before cutting any holes
in the console.
Step 3. Prepare the roof
console to accept the genuine interior light. Place the
interior light on the base of the console covering the hole.
Ensure that the interior light is sitting flush on the console
and in the centre of the console. Using the two smallest
self tapping screws supplied with the “console fitting
kit”, screw the interior light onto the console. Remove
the interior light from the console to allow access to the
console’s rear mounting screw holes. It is now a simple
procedure to re-mount the interior light after the console
is fitted.
Step 4. Fit your radio(s)
and accessoried into the console – see the “instructions
of installing a radio into a console” and the “radio
fitting kit” supplied with the console.

Step 5. The arrows
on “figure 1” and “figure 2” point
to the wiring socket for the interior light. The wiring
loom must be extended so this socket can reach the interior
light when it is fitted into the console. To gain access
to extend this wiring loom, it is necessary to drop down
the driver’s side of the hood lining. If the spectacle
holder / map light assembly is to be fitted into the console,
the wiring loom for the map light must also be extended.
Step 6. Install the wiring
and aerial lead(s) before fitting the console. Be sure to
leave enough spare wire to reach down to the seat. This
will make it easier to connect your wiring to the radio(s)
before fitting the console. The excess wire can be coiled
up inside the console. If the spectacle holder / map light
assembly is to be fitted to the console, there are two additional
earth wires provided in a fitting kit. Attach these wires
to the vehicle using two of the mounting screws for the
assembly.
Step 7. Place the console
on the seat. Connect the wiring and check that the radio(s)
and accessories are operational before installing the console.
Step 8. Coil up any excess
wire while lifting the console into position. Thread the
interior light wire down through the hole in the console
for the interior light. If applicable, thread the map light
wire and the earth wires down through the hole in the console
for the spectacle holder / map light assembly. Press the
console firmly onto the hood lining.
Step 9. Attach the sun
visors back into the original position. Do not tighten the
screws yet, this will allow the back of the console to move
enough to line up the rear mounting screw holes.
Step 10. Using the two
large self tapping screws supplied in the “console
fitting kit”, screw the back of the console to the
interior light mounting screw holes. The fitting kit contains
an interior light earth wire, this wire should be attached
between the washer and the head of one of the mounting screws.
You will need a No. 2 phillips head screw driver with a
shaft at least 150mm long (the longer the screw driver the
easier it will be to fit the console).
Step 11. Connect the interior
light wiring plug. Run the earth wire through the hole in
the interior light. Re-mount the interior light onto the
base of the console and use one of the mounting screws to
connect the earth wire to the earth contact point on the
interior light. Position the earth wire so it won’t
be affected by the heat generated from the light globe.
Step 12. If applicable,
connect the map light wiring plug then fit the spectacle
holder / map light assembly to the console using the three
screws that are provided in the fitting kit. Use two of
these screws to connect the earth wires to the earth contact
points on the map light.
Step 13. Tighten up
the sun visor mounting screws. |
