Fitting
Instructions:
Introduction
-
Four holes must be drilled into the vehicle to fit this console. The two front
mounting screws for the console are attached to a steel channel under the spectacle
holder / map light assembly. The two rear mounting screws for the console are
attached to a turret support channel in the centre of the roof that is covered
by the hood lining. All wiring can be installed without drilling any holes or
cutting the trim.
Step 1
- Remove the spectacle holder / map light assembly.
Step
2 - Remove the speaker grill fitted to the front of the console.
Step
3 - Hold the console in position to check the fit. Make sure you have received
the correct console, in good order, before cutting any holes in the console. Make
sure the console is sitting exactly in the centre of the roof. At the front of
the console, measure the distance between each sun visor and the console. At the
back of the console, measure from each side of the console to each side of the
vehicle. After centring the console, use a scriber to mark the position of the
console's four mounting points. See photo no. 1 showing the position of the two
front mounting screws.
Step
4 - Fit your radio(s) and accessories into the console - see the "instructions
on installing a radio into a console" and the "radio fitting kit"
supplied with the console.

Step
5 - If you are fitting the spectacle holder / map light assembly back into
the console, prepare this assembly for fitting. Drill two 5mm (3/16") holes
in the plastic housing as shown in photo no. 2. There are two black self tapping
screws supplied in the fitting kit. Using these screws attach the assembly onto
the console. Remove the assembly from the console to allow access to the consoles
rear mounting screw holes. It is now a simple procedure to re-mount the assembly
after the console is fitted.
Step 6 - Install the wiring and aerial
lead(s) before fitting the console. Be sure to leave enough spare wire to reach
down to the seat. This will make it easier to connect your wiring to the radio(s)
before fitting the console. The excess wire can be coiled up inside the console.
If you are fitting the spectacle holder / map light assembly into the console
you will need to extend the wiring loom for the map lights.
Step
7 - Holes for the four mounting points must now be drilled into the vehicle.
The two front mounting points line up with the steel channel above the windscreen.
The two back mounting points line up with one of the turret support channels under
the hood lining. In line with your pencil marks, drill four 3mm (9/64") holes
through ONE LAYER of steel. Be careful not to push the drill bit through the first
layer of steel and onto the turret. (There is a small space between the steel
channels and the turret in the places the holes are being drilled).
Step
8 - Place the console on the seat. Connect the wiring and check that the radio(s)
and accessories are operational before installing the console.
Step
9 - Coil up any excess wire while lifting the console into position. Press
the console firmly onto the hood lining. Ensure that all four mounting points
are lined up with the screw holes in the vehicle.
Step
10 - Attach the front of the console to the vehicle using the two 75mm
12
gauge self tapping screws and two washers supplied. Do not tighten these screws
yet, this will allow the back of the console to move enough to line up the rear
mounting screw holes.
Step
11 - Using the two 30mm 12 gauge self-tapping screws and two washers, attach
the back of the console to the remaining mounting points.
Step
12 - Tighten the front mounting screws.
Step
13 - Re-attach the front speaker grill and if applicable the spectacle / map
light assembly.
