FITTING INSTRUCTIONS:
Introduction.
This dash pod is designed to sit on top of the dashboard,
in the centre of the vehicle. It therefore covers the centre
tray and the plastic air vent that are fitted in the top of
the dashboard. This plastic air vent has been installed to
ventilate the genuine car radio. A ventilation hole has been
cut in the back of the pod to allow a continued flow of air
to this radio when the pod is fitted. For an improved appearance,
the plastic air vent can be fitted into this ventilation hole.
If you decide to fit the vent into the pod, you should prepare
the pod prior to installation (see step 2).
STEP 1. Remove the rubber mat that sits in the centre
tray on top of the dashboard.
STEP 2. Remove the plastic air
vent that is mounted in the centre tray. This vent is held
in position by "press on" clips located under the
crash pad. These clips can be prised off, without damaging
the dashboard, by lifting the vent with a paint scraper or
similar. This plastic air vent can be re-mounted into the
ventilation hole at the back of the pod. If you decide to
re-mount the vent, for best results, clamp the vent into position
then run a bead of glue around the inside edges of the vent.
A "hot glue gun" is ideal for this job. Silicon
sealant will suffice, if allowed to dry overnight before removing
the clamps.

This diagram shows an aerial view of
the tray in the centre of the dash board (with rubber mat
and vent removed)
STEP 3. Install
your wiring and antenna leads. Removal of the plastic air
vent exposes two holes in the crash pad. These holes can be
used to run your wiring from the pod down through the dashboard.
Remove the genuine radio (your Rover dealer should have the
"radio removal keys") and open the fuse box cover
to allow easy access for your wiring.
STEP 4. Remove the snap cap
and screw, on each side of the dash pod. Position the dash
pod mounting bracket in line with the two holes in the crash
pad (see diagram). In the opposite direction (i.e. across
the vehicle) the mounting bracket must be centred in the tray.
A precise central position is important because the pod should
line
up with the plastic panel on the front of the dashboard. Drill
ten 7/64" diameter holes through the crash pad (these
holes are covered by the rubber mat if the pod was removed).
Be careful not to drill past the plastic base of the crash
pad. Attach the mounting bracket using the ten 16mm 8 gauge
screws supplied in the "console fitting kit".
STEP 5. Position the pod onto
the dashboard by placing it over the mounting bracket. Make
sure the pod is sitting in the correct position. The pod should
neatly follow the contours of the dash board. The sides of
the pod should line up with the plastic panel on the front
of the dash board. Replace the screw and snap cap on each
side of the dash pod.
