Introduction. This console can be fitted to the
vehicle without drilling any holes. It is fitted by utilising
the sun visor mounting screws, the grab handle captive
nuts, and the interior light captive nuts.
Step 1. Remove the console
fitting kit from inside the console.
Step 2. Unscrew one side
of each sunvisor - the side closest to the rear view mirror.
Step 3. Remove the front
threaded screw that holds the passenger's side grab handle
onto the vehicle. Remove the front Christmas tree plug
that covers the front captive nut for a driver's side
grab handle. Remove the interior light.
Step 4. Without attaching
the sunvisor feet. Place the console in position and replace
the sunvisor screws back into the vehicle to bend the
consoles front mounting brackets into the correct shape.
fitting the console take note of the positions of
the sunvisor's foot locating pin hole and screw
hole. Be careful not to fit the screw into the locating
Step 5. Remove the sunvisor
screws and the console.
Step 6. Install the wiring
for the radio(s) or accessories.
Step 7. Install your radio(s)
or accessories into the console - see "instructions
for fitting a radio or accessories into the console".
Step 8. Prepare the roof
console to accept the genuine interior light. Place the
interior light on the base of the console, covering the
hole. Ensure that the interior light is sitting flush
on the console and in the centre of the console. Using
the two 20mm, 6 gauge self tapping screws supplied with
the "console fitting kit", screw the interior
light onto the console. Do not attempt to drill any holes
through the upholstery, the self tapping screws do not
need a hole to screw into the console base. Make sure
the screws are not too close to the edges of the plywood
hole. Remove the interior light from the console to
allow access to the consoles rear mounting screw holes.
It is now a simple procedure to re-mount the interior
light after the console is fitted.
Step 9. Make sure the interior
light wire is long enough to reach past the base of the
console. A gentle pull will free up some extra length
of this wire. In most cases it will be necessary to extend
Step 10. Place the console
in position, make sure the interior light wiring is laced
through the 25mm diametre hole in the timber spacer at
the back of the console. Secure the console on the driver's
side by fitting the threaded screw with the snap cap washer.
Secure the console on the passenger's side by re-attaching
the grab handle using the remaining 25mm x 6mm threaded
screw in the fitting kit. Next, re-attach the sunvisors.
Then using the two 50mm x 4mm threaded screws and washers
in the fitting kit attach the back of the console to the
interior light captive nuts. The interior light earth
wire supplied with the "console fitting kit"
should be attached between the washer and the head of
one of these two mounting screws.
Step 11. Connect the interior
light wiring plug, then run the earth wire through the
hole in the interior light. Re-mount the interior light
onto the base console and use one of the mounting screws
to connect the earth wire to the earth contact point on
the interior light. Position the earth wire so it won't
be affected by the heat generated from the interior light
Step 12. Place the snap
cap over the head of the threaded screw above the driver's
