TheOutdoorStudio TroopCarrier
We can’t speak highly enough of Karen and Eso from TheOutdoorStudio (TOS). This is one hell of a dynamic duo. TOS is built around their love of travel, exploring the outdoors, cooking, their beloved dogs Dusty and Cleo, and the TroopCarrier that makes it all possible.
Through TheOutdoorStudio’s YouTube and Instagram channels, they document their adventures, destinations, gear and cooking, predominantly through immersive ASMR-style content. The quality of their work sets them apart, with beautifully considered cinematography, crisp audio and polished production that clearly reflects Karen and Eso’s professional backgrounds behind the camera.
We’re honoured to have met and worked with these two. They’re two of the kindest and most passionate people we’ve had the pleasure of working with.
The Brief: Built to Live and Work From
The TOS TroopCarrier isn’t just a vehicle for getting from one destination to another. It needed to function as a workspace and a comfortable base for extended travel and working off-grid.
Karen and Eso had a few key requirements for the fit-out:
- Retain the factory rear seat for Dusty and Cleo
- Add as much practical storage as possible
- Create a workspace inside the vehicle for photo and video editing
- Provide enough power to live and work off-grid
- Prioritise comfort for long days behind the wheel and extended trips
Retaining the factory rear seat meant we couldn’t simply fill the back of the Troopy with cabinetry. Every bit of available space needed to be considered carefully to maximise storage while maintaining room for their precious cargo, Dusty and Cleo.
As photographers and videographers, the ability to stop somewhere remote, open a laptop and comfortably edit from inside the vehicle was also an important part of the brief. The electrical system needed to support this, providing enough capacity to power their computers, camera equipment and touring accessories while spending extended periods away from mains power.
The result is a TroopCarrier that brings together storage, off-grid power, comfort and a mobile workspace, while retaining the versatility Karen and Eso need for travelling with Dusty and Cleo.

More Than Just a Fit-Out
We’re incredibly proud of what we were able to put together for Karen and Eso, but even more grateful that working on their Troopy gave us the opportunity to get to know them. They came to us as customers and have since become not only great friends, but a genuine source of inspiration.
The finished vehicle reflects exactly what TheOutdoorStudio is about: getting out there, exploring and creating visuals that spark emotion.
