These pods provide a rigid, sealed speaker mounting solution that significantly improves sound quality compared to factory trims or plastic alternatives. By reducing vibration and resonance, they deliver:

Each pod is CNC cut, hand finished, and upholstered in Australia using solid timber for superior acoustic damping.

When installed with one of our recommended speaker models:

• No cutting or drilling of the door frame
• No metal swarf inside the door cavity
• No exposed steel edges requiring rust protection

This preserves the integrity of the vehicle and simplifies installation.

Our late 2025 design update allows the Speaker Door Pod to bolt directly to existing mounting points in the door frame, rather than screwed to the door trim.

This results in:

• Improved speaker punch and mid bass response

Mounting the speaker to the door frame ensures long term reliability and consistent sound quality on corrugations and rough tracks.

Our design securely mounts the speaker and seals it to the door pod, eliminating air gaps.

Air gaps allow the front and rear sound waves to interact, compromising the door cavity as an enclosure and significantly reducing mid bass performance. Proper sealing ensures the speaker performs as intended.

The design and construction of our Speaker Door Pods is inspired by experienced audio technicians, like Marty from FHRX Studios and Shaun from Automotive Acoustics, who both supply and install our products.

We do not manufacture low cost products offshore to maximise margin. We manufacture high quality products in Australia to maximise performance.

Our Premium Speaker Door Pods incorporate a bolt on speaker grille as standard.

We developed this design because clip in speaker grilles can work loose or fall out over time, particularly when vehicle doors are slammed or when driving on rough roads. A bolt on grille provides a more secure mounting solution and delivers a cleaner, more modern appearance.

For customers who prefer a more classic look using a traditional round speaker grille, we recommend securing the grille to the housing using small amounts of butyl rubber material, such as the adhesive backing found on sound deadener sheets. Using four small rolled pieces evenly spaced around the grille is usually sufficient to hold it securely in place while still allowing removal if required.

Installing oval 6x9" inch speakers in a 70 Series requires:

• Cutting the door frame
• Cleaning metal swarf from the door cavity
• Painting exposed steel edges
• Applying additional rust protection

We avoid unnecessary vehicle modification when it is not required.

From an audio performance perspective:

• Oval woofers can distort unevenly at higher volumes
• Round speakers provide superior staging and imaging
• 6x9" inch speakers can introduce interference between the woofer and tweeter, reducing midrange clarity

If maximum volume is your primary goal and these factors are not a concern, a 6x9" inch speaker can be suitable. An external amplifier is essential, as the internal amplifier (or power IC) in most head units cannot deliver the power these speakers are capable of handling.

We offer an optional fully upholstered ABS plastic door trim with a 3D moulded design to complement our Speaker Door Pods. ABS plastic provides a waterproof alternative to the factory masonite door card, which is prone to water damage over time, particularly in touring and off-road environments.

This upgrade also allows customers to select a full vinyl trim with no fabric insert, making the door trims far easier to clean and maintain compared to the factory fabric.
