Perfectly engineered to suit standard 6.5" speakers, each pod is 100% handmade in Australia and upholstered in DeluxeTrim Grey (custom-matched to your vehicle’s factory door trim) or DeluxeTrim Black.

No Cutting or Drilling Required
When paired with our recommended speakers, no modifications are needed to the steel door frame — meaning no cutting, drilling, painting, or rust-proofing. Too often we see rust stains forming from drain holes where installers have cut into the door and left behind steel swarf.

FAQs

Why don’t you offer these for 6x9” speakers?

The 70 Series LandCruiser doors are engineered for round speakers. Fitting an oval (6x9") speaker would require cutting into the steel door frame, which we don’t recommend.

We’ve aligned the speaker hole in our pods perfectly with the factory hole in the door frame, ensuring the speaker magnet sits inside the door cavity without modification-  only achievable with our recommended 6.5" speakers.

Fitting 6x9" speakers would require:

• Cutting the steel frame with a jigsaw or nibbler

• Cleaning out steel swarf from inside the door

• Painting exposed edges

• Applying rust protection

It’s time-consuming, expensive, and risks future rust issues in your doors.

From an audio perspective…

• Oval woofers distort unevenly due to their shape, reducing clarity at higher volumes.

• 6x9s don’t reproduce sound as faithfully as component speakers, which can be mounted separately for ideal staging and imaging.

• When the woofer sits directly under the midrange or tweeter, it interferes with higher frequencies, causing muddy, less defined sound.

Installation Tips

1. Follow the Instructions

2. Check Your Stereo’s Power Output
Ensure your head unit or amplifier can handle the additional speakers.

3. Optimise the 4” Dashboard Speakers
Many customers choose to disconnect these from the stereo and instead dedicate them to the UHF radio for improved clarity.

4. Run Speaker Cables First
Feed all required wiring through before mounting the pods for an easier installation.

5. Use Plastic Trim Tools
Avoid metal screwdrivers that can damage clips or panels- use plastic trim tools instead.

6. Install Sound Deadening
Apply sound-deadening material inside the steel door frame to improve audio clarity and reduce vibration.

7. Prevent Rust
Before reinstalling your trims, apply cavity wax or rust-preventative spray inside the door frame- especially if your vehicle frequently crosses rivers or drives in wet conditions.

That means no painting, no cleaning out metal swarf, and no rust-proofing required.
