Q: Does the colour match the factory trim?

A: Yes. Our deluxe vinyl is custom-made to match the door trims, armrests, door handles, and seat plastics.

Q: What speakers fit?

A: Our Original and Premium Speaker Door Pods suit all 6.5" speakers. For a no-cut fit, select from one of our recommended speaker models.

If you choose another brand/model, you may need to cut the steel door frame to allow for the speaker magnet depth and diameter. If so, the installer must:

• Vacuum and wash out the door frame to remove steel shavings
  
• Paint the exposed edge
  
• Apply rust-proofing inside the door frame
  

Q: What door pocket options are available?

A: Factory Pockets: If your GX/GXL model has factory plastic pockets, we can cut provisions for you to re-fit them (no extra cost).

Factory Toyota Pockets: $110 per pair if your vehicle doesn’t have them.

Aftermarket 70 Series Door Pockets: $180 per pair

Q: Installation tips?

Check your stereo can power your speakers – consider an amp if needed.

Many customers disconnect the 4" dash speakers and use them for UHF output.

Run speaker cabling before installing pods.

Use plastic trim removal tools to avoid damaging parts.

Install sound deadening in the steel door frame.

Apply rust protection (fish oil or similar) inside the frame.

Q: How should I install sound deadening?



A: Wipe surface with wax/grease remover

Cut into strips to fit through access holes

Cover as much steel as possible for the best results

Apply rust-proofing inside the door frame

We recommend Tweeter Pillar Pods from Everything 4WD, painted to match the factory pillars, for optimal sound staging.

Alternatively, we can supply a mounting plate to replace the 4" dash speaker location.

Fitting 6x9" speakers requires cutting the 70 Series door frame, which:

Involves messy steel removal and rust-proofing

Weakens the door frame

Is unnecessary for great sound quality

From an audio perspective, 6x9s distort more and reduce clarity. Component speakers (6.5") provide better staging and sound reproduction without cutting.

Our ABS plastic trims are:

Waterproof – unlike factory masonite trims which rot or mould with moisture

Durable – same plastic as the dashboard

Pre-installed Option – When purchased with our Original or Premium Speaker Door Pods, we pre-install the pods for you so installation is as simple as:

Swap the armrest
