This premium system separates the audio signal across dedicated 6.5-inch woofers, 3-inch midrange speakers and TAM tweeters. By allowing each speaker to reproduce a specific range of frequencies, the PS 165 F3E delivers greater clarity, improved instrument separation and a more precise soundstage than a conventional two-way speaker system.

The woofers and midrange speakers feature Focal’s patented Flax sandwich cones, manufactured using French flax fibres positioned between two layers of fibreglass. This lightweight and rigid construction produces natural, uncoloured sound, rich midrange detail and clean, controlled bass.

Focal’s Tuned Mass Damper surrounds stabilise the movement of the speaker cones and reduce unwanted vibrations, helping deliver greater definition at higher listening levels. The TAM inverted-dome tweeters provide smooth high-frequency reproduction with wide sound dispersion throughout the cabin.

The included multi-level audiophile crossovers allow the tweeter and midrange output to be adjusted to suit the vehicle and installation. Angled tweeter mounts also provide greater flexibility when positioning the tweeters for an improved front soundstage.
